The political sparring match over tax breaks for online retail giant Amazon.com is heating up. South Carolina small businesses have banded together to battle the giant saying a sales tax break for Amazon puts them at a competitive disadvantage. Sounds like a David vs. Goliath battle, but we all know who won that battle. (Hint: It was the underdog) This is an interesting battle and one that could have major implications down the road. Other states are facing similar struggles with e-commerce laws and taxes. While a national law would be the best solution, that is not going to happen anytime soon. It will take states like South Carolina to make a stand. Let's hope it is the right one.
