Getting Back to Basics

One of the beauties of the modern age is the amount of information that is seemingly available right at our fingertips. That is if you know where to look for it. Website names continue to get more complex as people try to find new ways to advertise their wares. Every time I type in a URL I wonder how they came up with that name for it. And then I wonder what some of the most basic words in the English language have become in cyberspace.

With that in my mind, here are some basic word websites.

Jelly: The web home of gourmet jelly maker Fischer and Wieser. Of course, they also make a lot of other sauces, which leads to...

Sauces: Sauces.com get redirected to Kraft Recipes...hmmm. Sauce.com leads to Ragu.

I asked Elaine in the office for a word her 19-month-old son uses, so we got up. Well, up.com is the home page for Union Pacific.
Bold

America's favorite pastime football has a rather glorified blog (and by glorified, I mean, not good) on the sport. Baseball had a holding site. And I'm not quite sure what was happening with hockey and basketball, which is true in the real world as well.

Book begot the home page for Barnes and Noble's. Dough had recipes. Doughnut was a holding site. And hamburger was links to portfolio.

From the animal kingdom, dog gets a wholesale site for doggie merchandise, cat is the home page of Caterpillar, duck found nothing, the cow opened up malware, chicken was a holding site and horse was a wholesaler.
