Woody Woodpecker as Art? Insert dumb laugh here


Completely intrigued by a story in this morning's New York Times on Woody Woodpecker. I used to imitate Woody's evil cackle as a kid convinced that I was pitch-perfect with the avian agitator. In reality, I only accomplished sounding really annoying to my various friends and family members. So, I guess I accomplished something because Woody Woodpecker was an annoying jerk.


However, it appears an animator was hiding experimental art clips inside Woody Woodpecker films. Not quite subliminal messages, but kind of a neat idea as detailed by the Times. The animator was ahead of his time when it came to pushing art in cartoons. Now, if only he could have done something with the storylines...
