The Gas Jokes Cometh
on Friday, February 25, 2011
It is interesting to see how people grapple publicly with the world of increased gas prices because of the turmoil in Libya. We all know prices are skyrocketing, but the way the media reports on it is varied. One of our local television stations, WYFF, is bringing out the "Pain at the Pump" logos every night during the evening news. It is the lead headline on the Greenville News -- a rather dry story on the basic numbers. The lead story on Yahoo is about the turmoil affecting the average man and woman on the street.
But the average man's take is a little bit different based solely on the jokes and cracks being made by our friends in the social media world. One person joked that he was going to sit outside a gas station today to watch the prices inch up all day. Another person cracked that gas prices have gotten so high that gangs are doing walk-by shootings. Someone else reminded everyone that beer still costs more per gallon than gasoline. Another joke was someone was going to fill up their gas tanks with Everclear.
The gas jokes cometh.
