The Revolution Won't Be Televised -- It Was Digitized
on Monday, January 31, 2011
Apparently, this social media thing has finally proven its point. Twitter has been banned in Egypt because people were using it to plan protests against the regime there. China has banned the word Egypt in its Twitter-like service because its leadership doesn't want people to get any big ideas.
According to a column in this morning's New York Times, apparently the revolution wasn't televised. It was planned like a date or a mash-up in advance via social media.
It's a scary thought that people can use such a conventional tool to show us the world as it unravels. I remember 20 years ago when America learned of the Gulf War starting live on CNN. That was considered so bizarre that a war could start on television. Now, the war is starting via computer.
The Revolution won't be televised, it was digitized.

I was part of the Ron Paul Revolution...that should not have been either digitized OR televised.
