Beware the Kudzu Bug!

Read a nice little piece on scientists finding that bug that eats kudzu is now spreading the through the south after first being found in Georgia several years ago. Now for anyone who has lived in the South for a while knows, kudzu is part of the culture. It is more prevalent than Coke, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet tea and banana pudding combined. But not in a good way.

Kudzu is an invasive plant that takes over everything in its path if not stopped. The problem has been it is not easily stopped. So what if the bugs work? Will that be a good thing or a bad thing? Because what happens when all of the kudzu is gone. Well these bugs like to get warm and stay in houses. They also eat soybeans.

We have seen these plants in fields recently (don't ask why we were in a kudzu field, but we were) and wondered. They were everywhere and really nasty.

Yikes. Beware the kudzu bug.
