Free Advice for Politicians

We are in the middle of another political season -- not just presidential -- but many local races are coming up on the South Carolina radar. Soon the campaign signs will litter the highways, intersections and roadsides of our fair state like the first blooms of cotton on the vine. All kinds of promises will be made. All kinds of decrees heard. All kinds of ominous threats to your way of life will insinuated if Candidate A is elected over Candidate B. These tactics may or may not work.

We have some advice for the politicians: Stand for something. Seriously. No this is not some Aaron Tippin reference. It is easy to attack and destroy on the political trail, but the best thing to do is have a plan for improvement. We have been electing way too many people in this nation on both sides of the political coin that stand for nothing. They blame. They blame some more. When they end with that, they blame again.

Instead, stand for something tangible. Don't make the empty promises. Don't make empty gestures. Stand for growth. Stand for education. Stand for a better way. Come up with ideas. Make things better. Don't destroy.

Well, that's our free advice for politicians and you know what they say about free advice.
