NFL Back?
on Monday, June 20, 2011
Well, we will know tomorrow if we will watch the NFL on Sundays or have to find something else to do. Maybe. Tuesday is the day that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will tell his 32 owners (and by abstentia the rest of the free world) how close he is to a labor deal that would end the lockout that has been in place since March.
It is all rather confusing because we always hear about such deadlines, but really the only thing that will happen is talk. According to Sports Illustrated's Peter King, "it will take nine owners' no votes to scuttle any preliminary labor deal, so after the negotiating team explains where the league stands with the players and where they might end up on the key issues, then the league's going to find out if it'll have any real opposition to a prospective deal."
So will the NFL be back? Tune in Tuesday or not.
