Pushing Some Buttons

Ok, this was a very long weekend with plenty of media and madness to pick on so let's go with it.

1. The earthquake and tsunami that ravaged Japan was horrifying. The response to the event has been strange, though, in the United States. We find that a little odd. Yes, the quake hit on the other side of the globe, but based on Japan's influence financially and emotionally on America we expected more outcry ala Haiti last year. Where are the relief concerts and calls for action from celebrities? It is so very odd. Media attention has been somewhat sangquine. Seriously, the most gripping story we have seen in American media was Yahoo talking to professional Japanese baseball players at Spring Training. The worst part to us was listening to radio celebrity Neal Boortz complaining about the alerts on the West Coast of the United States. He was miffed that nothing happened and jumped on the "the mainstream media overreacted bandwagon." He was mad that his day was hindranced.Um, did he not see what just went down in Japan? How could people not be worried.

2. Selection Sunday in NCAA basketball. No work is being done nationwide this morning as Americans fill out brackets -- all trying to guess who will win the basketball tournament. Our guess? It won't be Wofford. (sorry terriers)

3. Finally, we are in high gear on several projects this morning. That means we soon will need a second pot of coffee here.
