No pay raises for federal employees?

Labels: barack obama, federal pay raises, president
President Obama announced today that he plans to freeze pay raises for all federal employees for the next two years. It would not affect the military. This is an interesting little piece of political football. On one hand, Obama is sending a clear message on the federal budget and spending. On the other hand, this is one way to tick off a large group of voters by the year 2012.
The fact is that federal job spending has been somewhat out of control in the past five years, according to a recent report in USA Today. People making more than $150,000 a year has grown 10 fold, while the annual pay raises has been three percent above inflation for more than a decade. The private sector rate is 0.8 percent.
The question is do people deserve these raises? Let us know?

There are many federal employees that make less than $30,000 a year. These people barely make it paycheck to paycheck. Now due to the fact that there are many that make more than a $150,000 a year, the ones that don't have to continue to struggle.
