Greenville Civitan Club donates $10,000 for new Miracle League Grandstand Awnings

MAULDIN, SC – Parents and fans attending Mauldin Miracle League games have a new ally in 2011—a grandstand awning covering the bleachers courtesy of the Civitan Club of Greenville.

Dennis Raines, the Miracle’s League’s president and founder, said the generous donation came about from a previous gift from the Civitan Club of Greenville. The group gave Cool Zone Fans last year to the league, and a member asked if there was anything else that could be given.

Raines knew parents wanted covering over the bleachers that wrap around the field and offered that idea. The Civitan Club of Greenville then made it a goal to provide the grandstand awnings.

The structure was installed for the start of the 2011 fall season, which begins Sept. 10.

“We greatly appreciate everything the Civitans have done for our players and parents,” Raines said.

The Civitan Club of Greenville’s mission is to provide funding to projects or programs which assist the economically, mentally, or physically less fortunate or underprivileged of Greenville County, South Carolina.

The Mauldin Miracle League is a non-profit organization aimed at proving opportunities to play baseball for children with disabilities. Learn more at www.mauldinmiracleleague.com or www.miracleleague.com.
