The Washed Masses?
on Tuesday, May 10, 2011
Interesting take in this morning State on the 2012 presidential campaign. As usual, South Carolina will be the Republican litmus test, but it appears reason may be coming into the vote. The article starts with Gov. Nikki Haley urging voters to ask tough questions on policy and not just on how a candidate plans to win the White House. The writer then interviews dozens of people who identify themselves as Tea Party activists really wanting to know what is being said and being cognizant that no one candidates will answer every question they want perfectly.
It could make for an interesting race and one that political aficionados will need to be cognizant about. Flash and splash may be on the way out. Could it be?
Maybe, but no. The story also includes a reference to U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina who likely will be the kingmaker in the state. He is loved by conservatives and the belief is whoever he backs will be the winner. That says a lot about the political climate still. People will still follow a leader. It happens. However, what if DeMint does not endorse someone, which just may very well do?
Could we have great washed masses rolling to the polls in this election?
