...But Her Status Said Single
on Thursday, March 31, 2011
Anyone in the public relations field knows the importance of Facebook and social networking. Facebook is a great way to get a message out and build up a following. However, more and more people are viewing Facebook as a window into their souls. All you have to do is visit the homepage, and you will be bombarded with status after dramatic status proclaiming breakups, cries for attention and any other woe is me situation. For example, it is amazing how quickly people change their relationship status. A married couple should at least have the "define the relationship" talk before changing their statuses. Recently a wife changed her status to single as if making the statement that she has had enough and is ready to be available again while her husband simply deleted his relationship status. A little confusing? And don't get us started on "it's complicated." And when someone goes through a breakup they will post song lyrics and statements about their sadness and regret for months. Discretion is thrown out the window. From a public relations standpoint, it is clear why some people should start using more discretion the next time they are about to post their latest drama. But so many just can't resist letting the whole world know how much they miss their boyfriend or girlfriend.
