Feed Reading and PR Blogging

As we continue to build our Brett Banter blog, we're discovering more and more just how much great... and free... reading information the World Wide Web has to offer. Although, when you really think about it, we love public relations, politics and communications, so it's only logical that we like to talk and to read and to spread our ideas!

Blogging is a surefire and powerful way to deliver your message to a wide audience while also developing an online presence. The internet essentially can serve as your extra networking arm. Through our blog connections, plus our Twitter and Facebook pages, we are meeting and reading in depth about lots of interesting people not just in the Upstate and South Carolina, but across the country.
Some of the blogs we have discovered so far that we particularly like include:
  • A PR Guy's Musings on business, PR, social media and politics
  • Pop! PR Jots' Jeremy Pepper out of San Francisco
  • Off K Street offers great info and analysis on national, state, regional politics and issues
  • Fits News - always good for a SC political laugh
  • Lindsay Olson offers great advice and insights in the job market, PR and technology realm
  • Sure, he's in Charlotte, but we love Charlotte Observer columnist Jeff Elder's social media blog. He spent a year in Silicon Valley studying social networking at Stanford University, and visiting Twitter and Facebook headquarters and company leaders.
But back to that oh-so-essential skill that your parents surely instilled in you from the time you were young: learning to read. If you have lots of sites and/or blogs you like to visit, did you know you can keep track of all of them in one RSS feed, or news aggregator? With a click you can view all your favorites on one page. Here at Brett, we've been using Google Reader, but we are always open to suggestions as to others' favorites. Find some info about selecting an RSS feeder here. And by the way, do you have a great blog we should be following? Drop us a line by leaving a comment or emailing lstewart@brett-inc.com.
